Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAYNE!!!!

Today is Sarayne's fifth birthday.  There has been a lot going on in her little life and as much as I would have loved to go all out and have a party and really make things fun and memorable for her I just haven't been able to gather enough energy to make all that happen.  However, all is not lost.  Today she got presents from her siblings (we gave her our presents on Sunday with the extended family), I took her and Elya shopping and they got to pick out books, we made and decorated cupcakes, they got to dress up and she got to stay up later and watch a movie of her choice.  Maybe this weekend when Clint is back in town we'll be able to do something really fun for her with the family.  I hope that she had fun on her birthday!!! I can't believe she's 5!!!

So shortly after I posted this blog while I was getting the kids ready for bed, in walked Clint.  He drove all the way home just for the night so that he could surprise his little girl.  She was so excited.  It was a great surprise for all of us.  It really made the day special for Rayne, and a really great night for me.  Thank you Clint.

Tayven James Gibson and our little adventure

WELCOME TAYVEN!!!
Tayven James Gibson was born on November 4th, 2008 at 6:55pm (yes election day... Callay was born on tax day.... and I'm Canadian... go figure) He was 8 pounds 14 ounces.  My labour was really good.  He was born healthy and happy.  Everyone in the delivery room was very surprised with his size (he peed twice before they weighed him) and he is the biggest child we have had so far.  We are so happy that he has come into our little family.  The girls are really happy to have a little brother.  Sarayne, Elya and Callay are all sweet big sisters.  They love him so much.  We are so blessed to have him in our family. 

At around 11:00 pm I hemorrhaged.  Then though out the night I lost a lot more blood.  My blood pressure went really low and the nurses started coming into our room every 20-30 minutes.  This continued though out the night, they started drawing blood around 4 am to check my levels.  Then in the morning we were told that I had lost over 1900 cc's of blood all after the delivery.  My dr came in shortly before 8 am and told us what was happening.  I was going to be taken to the OR for a simple procedure to make sure that everything was okay.  He also gave me the option to have a blood transfusion.  He told me that I would recover faster, but that there is an unknown risk (they don't know what to they will want to screen for in the future) my levels were as low as he felt comfortable with, but given that I was healthy when I went in he wanted us to make the decision.  We decided not to have the transfusion.  Up until this point neither Clint or I had really understood what was happening (the nurses were very careful not to alarm us during the night).   As soon as the dr was finished explaining everything to us they took me to the OR.  They fixed everything and although I was very out of it the next day I started to recover.   The dr told us that it will take a couple of months for me to completely recover and for my body to rebuild the blood cells but I am doing much better now.  I am very tired most of the time but I have been able to stop giving Tayven formula, and am able to exclusively breast feed as of today (this was very important to me) so that was a big step.  

Clint has been absolutely amazing.  He was there for me the whole time and very involved.  The nurses and staff at the hospital as we were leaving were all saying that he gets the husband of the year award.   I am so blessed to have him in my life.  My family has been so supportive I really appreciate all that everyone has done for us.  My parents are letting me stay at their house, my in-laws (my mother in law and bother in law even drove out from Chicago to help), and all my sisters and brothers who have been there for me, even if they're far away, friends and just everyone.  I just can't thank everyone enough for all the prayers and love that we have had in our behalf.  Thank you everyone!!!
